These days I’ve been listening to the song BRAVE, by Sara Bareilles and I’ve been reflecting on the concept of being brave. Listen to it and maybe stand up and dance, wherever you are.
Entrepreneurs are intrinsically brave, they dare to explore where few have explored before.
Now Hello!, let me be clear on what I mean by entrepreneurs. In my mind owning or running a business does not define an entrepreneur. In my mind the definition of an entrepreneur is people who:
Embrace CURIOSITY in every aspect of their lives
Dare to take action on dreams, no matter how big or small
Are passionate about what they believe in, and are not afraid to stand up for it
Dare to go beyond their comfort zone in service of a better/bigger opportunity
See problems and challenges as opportunities for creativity and new possibilities
With this definition, you don’t need to own or run a business in order to be an entrepreneur…. There are many CEO’s who do not fit this profile and many employees in companies around the world that do. There are homemakers who don’t work outside of the house but fit this profile. They are the movers and shakers of this world. Those that open trails and let us follow; they are the first, the brave ones.
But I believe we ALL have the capacity of being entrepreneurs, or being entrepreneurial in some aspect of our lives. We all have the capacity of making an impact, standing up for what we believe, making a difference, but many of us don’t dare to be brave, to speak up or take a stand for ourselves or for what we believe. We all have the capacity of leading change.
This same concept applies for anyone who dares to step out of the hamster wheel and create a new path for themselves, for their communities, for the world. It ties beautifully with Bareilles' song of allowing courage to overcome past stories, labels and limiting beliefs and give space for creating, building, growing and changing.
As Sara sings, "Show my how BIG your brave is", what would that look like for you Hello!?
