This morning i went for a long walk by the water. My summer, this year has changed as my two younger boys are away at camp and my two older kids are busy with their summer jobs and sailing schedule. Here's a photo of my daughter with her friend and our dog having fun in the sun.
So I found myself alone this morning, with no one to make breakfast for or drive to places. A new experience for me.
This summer has also brought a lot of new connections and new opportunities for me as we have began the interview process to find our speakers for TEDxNewBedford, happening on November 6th, 2015 here in New Bedford.
Just this week I've spoken with an astronaut and ocean scientist who is studying the correlation between deep ocean exploration and space exploration. I've spoken to a doctor who is studying "spontaneous remission". He studies patients that have healed themselves from terminal illnesses without traditional medical help. He is exploring what lies beyond everything he has learned in medical school and in his more than thirty year career. I've also spoken to the CEO of a software platform who navigates his start up as his creative expression.
Exposure to all of these amazing minds has made me think of all that we humans are possible of creating in our world if we just get out of our own way and allow ourselves to become the best and boldest version of ourselves.
What all these amazing people have in common is that their curiosity and their passion to bring their work forward is stronger and bigger than the fear of not doing it.
They are plowing forward even when not every move, every decision has been successful. They are consistent in their pursuit of greatness.
I feel honored and lucky to be having these conversations and I'm giddy with excitement with the event we are putting together with my team.
