Subject: What will stop you from reaching your goals in the New Year?
Hello!,

Last week I invited you to take some time to reflect on what the year has brought to you.

Some of you reached out to me and we have spent a few hours in a Strategy Session where we reviewed what has happened to this date and we designed what you want the next year to bring.

The feedback has been amazing. I’ve heard comments such as:

“I now feel less overwhelmed and anxious about the new year and more clear on what I’m doing, month by month.”

“I’ve always had this vision, this idea for my business, but seeing it all laid out gives me a sense of possibility and forward movement. Thank you!”

“It’s amazing what I’ve accomplished this year. I was feeling overwhelmed and a failure but in reality I’ve come a long way. This gives me a sense of accomplishment and a desire to really play even bigger in the New Year.”

I love the work I do in December because I get to witness those aha moments when my clients realize how far they’ve come and that fuels the goals they set out to reach in the new year.

We all do this. To some extent. Some people call it simply, New Year resolutions. When you look at what you want to improve and you decide this will be the year to tackle this issue.

But these New Year resolutions, usually stay small and faithful to their name, they don't go past the New Year. They are THE topic of conversation the evening of December 31st and January 1st but by January 2nd they are old news; and we go back to old patterns.

Because of this, this year, I wanted to start this conversation earlier and offer you a way to make these New Year resolutions, things that you will be celebrating as accomplishments 12 months from now.

Getting clear on what will stop us from achieving our goals is the first step towards planning for our success. For anyone that has ever followed an eating plan to get healthier, you know that the first step is planning. Make sure you have the right food in the house and that you prep containers in the fridge with healthy snacks. This exercise is very similar. Ensuring the success of your goals requires these 3 easy steps:

  1. GOAL SETTING: Identify the goals you want to reach in the following 12 months, then break them quarter by quarter. That way you’ll know exactly what you are doing each quarter. You can use this worksheet I created for goal setting. Year End Review.pdf

  2. DANGER ZONE: Identify the possible roadblocks. What can stop you from achieving these goals? For every goal, identify 5 possible roadblocks. (Some roadblocks might be common to all your goals)

  3. STRATEGIZE: Design strategies around each roadblock. What action will you take when you face that specific roadblock? What do you need to have handy? What routines/habits can help you?

If you prefer to print and think this through, I've created a worksheet for you. What stops you?.pdf

This exercise can be what makes or breaks your New Year resolutions so go ahead, this year, plan to succeed.

If you missed the December Strategy Sessions, I've opened up a few spots for Strategy Sessions in early January (starting after January 7th). These 2-hour strategy sessions are designed to help you build the roadmap for the next year. I only have room for two more sessions in January so if you are interested in designing the roadmap for your next level of growth send me an email and we’ll schedule YOUR STRATEGY SESSION.

Have a great weekend,
